Maloof Money Cup - Review

 Photo: Ryan Sheckler by It's Samantha Bitch for R.S.B. The Maloof Money Cup took Orange County by storm last weekend. It was the biggest strictly skate competition ever held, with the grand prize for men's street skating being $100,000 ($75,000 for men's vert, and $25,000 for women's street). All the biggest names in the skateboard world were on hand, such as Rob Dyrdek, Ryan Sheckler, Danny Way, Bob Burnquist, Terry Kennedy, Bucky Lasek, Alyssa Steamer, Paul Rodriguez, Shaun White, Lacey Baker, Andrew Reynolds, Jake Brown, and so many others. Aside from A-List skaters, there were many celebrities on sight, such as hotel heiress/fashion designer Nikki Hilton, rapper Lil Jon, rocker Travis Barker, Drama from MTV's "Rob & Big", and rapper Tyga. Aside from featuring the largest amount of money ever given away in a skate competition, it was also the first time that a cement street course was built strictly for competition. The street corse, which was designed by Rob Dyrdek, Erik Ellington, and Andrew Reynolds, was built & completed in 10 days and torn down after the competition. The Maloof Money Cup also featured a village of tents, booths and other attractions in a separate area away from the competition. In the MMC village, skate teams had signings, merch for sale, and there was even an area where anyone who signed a release form could go skating. Though the Maloof Money Cup focused mainly on street skating, one of the biggest highlights of the three day event, was when on Sunday(the final day) Santos Diaz pulled off a 900 during the men's vert competition. The whole entire venue when crazy with a roar of excited screams when he did this rare trick. The only real low point of the Money Cup, was on Sunday evening when a fight erupted in the stands, which resulted in a few people being arrested. Tomorrow we're going to be covering the Maloof Money Cup. The biggest skateboard competition to ever go down, way bigger than the X-Games. Rob Dyrdek, Terry Kennedy Danny Way, P-Rod, Sheckler, Shaun White, Jake Brown, and just about every awesome skater on the planet is going to be there.  According to people that got to hear G-Unit's new album "Terminate On Sight" at the G-Unit's T.O.S. listening party earlier this week in NYC, 50 Cent calls out T.I. on a track called "You So Tough". In the song he apparently says: “Nowadays this rap shit ain’t adding up/ How niggas get caught with 10 machine guns, only get 12 months?” Making reference to T.I.'s arrest for machine gun possession last year. In other G-Unit beefing.. Ex-G-Unit member Young Buck supposedly got on the mic screaming "Fuck G-Unit" at the after party for a concert of his(which he didn't even bother showing up to) in Tampa on Friday.  The All American Rejects posted the following post on their myspace blog explaining why they are canceling their Warped Tour and Canadian tour dates: So planning stuff six months in advance can be tough, and can come back to bite ya in the ass sometimes, and unfortunately we've walked into just a situation... We're still working really diligently on the new record, and its coming along, but we're in a spot where we just can't break away from it right now, which means we gotta cancel some shows. It was a really tough decision, but it came down to potentially having to push the record back til next year, and i don't know about you guys, but we just can't wait that long. So we're bummed to say it, but we're not doing Warped Tour this year or our Canadian tour with Simple Plan. We can't apologize enough to all you guys who were excited to see us, and hopefully we can make it up to you really soon (hopefully first with a really good record). We also can't give enough apologies to everyone involved with Warped Tour and Simple Plan. Thank you so much for understanding. Ashanti takes down web feature due to protest

 Ashanti recently was subject to protesting outside of her record label, over a feature on her web site that allowed people to send revenge e-mails to people that they didn't like. The e-mails, which were called " The Gotchagram", contained bloody images such as a murder victims name scrawled out in blood and Ashanti stabbing a cheating boyfriend to death. "The Gotchagram" was being used as promotional material for her current single "The Way That I Love You"(which features someone being murdered in the music video). Joel Madden posted the following(as well as the picture above) on his blog this morning: "So i feel really stupid even posting this, but i've been getting calls and texts from my family all week asking me why they weren't invited to my wedding. I guess the only answer i could give them was that i didnt know we were having one. So i just found out that star magazine wrote some story about a 2 MILLION dollar wedding we are supposed to be having, and thats where it came from. Sooooo if you were pissed at me for not inviting you or even telling you, dont blame me, theres nothing to worry about. Its just star magazine. Club Tattoo 13th Anniversary Party

 Last Saturday, May 10th, the Marquee Theater in Tempe was full of strobe lights, tattoos, loud music and piercings as approximately 1,000 people came out to celebrate Club Tattoo's 13th Anniversary. For entertainment Julien-K, Rabbit In The Moon, and an array of popular DJ's preformed and spun records. Chester Bennington even did a special preformance. Prior to preforming Chester mingled with the crowd, signing autographs, taking pictures and chatting with fans. Sean Dowdell opened the first Club Tattoo shop in 1995 with the help of his friend Chester Bennington of Linkin Park. Since then Club Tattoo has become a huge success, sporting 4 different locations around the Phoenix Metro, and have had many celebrity clientele such as: Gwar, Hoobastank, Linkin Park, Less Than Jake, MXPX, Story Of The Year and members of various sports teams, just to name a few. So here's a run down of stuff that doesn't deserve it's own post, as it's too newsy and not gossipy or amusing enough....
Fall Out Boy's new DVD "Fall Out Boy Live In Phoenix", which was released only two weeks ago, has already sold 22,900 copies. That may not sound like a lot, but for a DVD that is a crazy amount to sell. Though obviously the fact that they filmed the dvd in [my lovely home city of] Phoenix has to be why it's done so well............................. Snoop Dogg is releasing a children's book called "Were's The Cheese" about a mouse named Lil Mouse [creative name Snoop]. It's super nice to know that former Crips gang members who have been on trial for murder are now writing children's books[i kid kid, you rock Snoop]....................... Panic! At The Disco recently told Billboard.com that they're already working on their next album. Let's all pray that for their next album they decide to stop being a Beatles coverband......................... Our least favorite new rapper Tyga has posted a new song on his myspace... Oh joy....................... Plan B skateboards recently posted a video of their team rider Ryan Sheckler attempting to skate one of Danny Way's DC Mega Ramp.... He never landed it over the gap. Though I happen to be among a large amount of people, who feel that Shecks deserves to die a slow painful death for his "wonderful" reality show[thats more boring than watching paint dry, and at least paint doesn't moan about not having a girlfriend or who to spend christmas with]..... BUT I have to give Shecks major props for attempting to go down a Mega Ramp... Danny Way's DC Mega Ramps are hard enough for someone who's a vert skater, But Shecks is a street skater, which makes it pretty awesome that he attempted it. Better luck next time Shecks? Though apparently some magazines have said the story is worth $60,000 max. Imo.. Who really cares about a Pete Wentz baby other than Overcast Kids and 14 year olds who read Tiger Beat? Anyway..  So we all know Fall Out Boy's most popular member Pete Wentz & Jessica Simpson's little lip syncing sister Ashlee Simpson got engaged about two weeks ago. Now theres tons of rumors flying around that Ashlee & Pete are expecting a baby. Last summer everyone was claiming Ashlee was preggers with Pete's baby, which obviously turned out not to be true. And once again Pete is denying it. But Ashlee has yet to flat out deny it... AND People Magazine who rarely print rumors, are saying Ashlee is pregnant. The jury is still out on this one.. Avenged Sevenfold

 On April 9th, thousands of people crowded Jobbing.com Arena for Taste of Chaos 2008. The co-headlining bands were Atreyu and Avenged Sevenfold, giving Taste of Chaos 2007 (The Used and 30 Seconds To Mars) competition. After Atreyu made the whole crowd get on their knees, in came Avenged Sevenfold. The show had been full of energy so far, but anyone who thought it couldn't get any better was proven wrong. Nothing could compare to the amazing stage presence that the guys of Avenged Sevenfold had. Not one mistake was made during any part of the set, making it nonetheless perfect. Throughout their entire performance, they kept the crowd alert by the use of very well planned out pyrotechnics. Even during some songs (such as "Gunslinger"), the use of them shocked the crowd. The heat from the pyrotechnics was so great that it could be felt from the audience. So imagine what it was like for The Rev to be surrounded by them while playing! As the show came to an end, the answer was obvious. Taste of Chaos 2008 had managed to top Taste of Chaos 2007! It's a must see show, that Rockstarbaby.net was more than happy to cover!
