Maloof Money Cup - Review

The Maloof Money Cup took Orange County by storm last weekend. It was the biggest strictly skate competition ever held, with the grand prize for men's street skating being $100,000 ($75,000 for men's vert, and $25,000 for women's street). All the biggest names in the skateboard world were on hand, such as Rob Dyrdek, Ryan Sheckler, Danny Way, Bob Burnquist, Terry Kennedy, Bucky Lasek, Alyssa Steamer, Paul Rodriguez, Shaun White, Lacey Baker, Andrew Reynolds, Jake Brown, and so many others. Aside from A-List skaters, there were many celebrities on sight, such as hotel heiress/fashion designer Nikki Hilton, rapper Lil Jon, rocker Travis Barker, Drama from MTV's "Rob & Big", and rapper Tyga.
Aside from featuring the largest amount of money ever given away in a skate competition, it was also the first time that a cement street course was built strictly for competition. The street corse, which was designed by Rob Dyrdek, Erik Ellington, and Andrew Reynolds, was built & completed in 10 days and torn down after the competition.
The Maloof Money Cup also featured a village of tents, booths and other attractions in a separate area away from the competition. In the MMC village, skate teams had signings, merch for sale, and there was even an area where anyone who signed a release form could go skating.
Though the Maloof Money Cup focused mainly on street skating, one of the biggest highlights of the three day event, was when on Sunday(the final day) Santos Diaz pulled off a 900 during the men's vert competition. The whole entire venue when crazy with a roar of excited screams when he did this rare trick.
The only real low point of the Money Cup, was on Sunday evening when a fight erupted in the stands, which resulted in a few people being arrested.

You can catch all the awesomeness of the first ever Maloof Money Cup on CBS today at Noon, and on the season premier of MTV's Life Of Ryan (air date TBA).

Tomorrow we're going to be covering the Maloof Money Cup. The biggest skateboard competition to ever go down, way bigger than the X-Games. Rob Dyrdek, Terry Kennedy Danny Way, P-Rod, Sheckler, Shaun White, Jake Brown, and just about every awesome skater on the planet is going to be there. So expect a ton of really awesome pix, and big review, on monday or tuesday(as we're having to fly out to California to cover this).

Today is June 21st... Aka "Go Skateboarding Day"... They best congress recognized Holiday ever! I hope you're out skateboard, or at a BBQ in honor of Skate Day....
Now let us give thanks to all those amazing skaters that have come before us....
BTW.. i seriously believe this should be a gift giving holiday/day you get off work.

Go Skate Day is approaching

Thee greatest government sanctioned(yes the US Congress has recognized it) holiday ever, Go Skateboarding Day, is coming up this Saturday. RSB wanted to host it's very own Go Skate Day celebration in Socttsdale (our HQ city), but due to city regulations and codes, we're going to shoot for next year instead.

G-Unit beefing with....

According to people that got to hear G-Unit's new album "Terminate On Sight" at the G-Unit's T.O.S. listening party earlier this week in NYC, 50 Cent calls out T.I. on a track called "You So Tough". In the song he apparently says: “Nowadays this rap shit ain’t adding up/ How niggas get caught with 10 machine guns, only get 12 months?” Making reference to T.I.'s arrest for machine gun possession last year.

In other G-Unit beefing.. Ex-G-Unit member Young Buck supposedly got on the mic screaming "Fuck G-Unit" at the after party for a concert of his(which he didn't even bother showing up to) in Tampa on Friday.

The All American Rejects posted the following post on their myspace blog explaining why they are canceling their Warped Tour and Canadian tour dates:
So planning stuff six months in advance can be tough, and can come back to bite ya in the ass sometimes, and unfortunately we've walked into just a situation... We're still working really diligently on the new record, and its coming along, but we're in a spot where we just can't break away from it right now, which means we gotta cancel some shows. It was a really tough decision, but it came down to potentially having to push the record back til next year, and i don't know about you guys, but we just can't wait that long. So we're bummed to say it, but we're not doing Warped Tour this year or our Canadian tour with Simple Plan. We can't apologize enough to all you guys who were excited to see us, and hopefully we can make it up to you really soon (hopefully first with a really good record). We also can't give enough apologies to everyone involved with Warped Tour and Simple Plan. Thank you so much for understanding. We are still doing the handful of shows with Bon Jovi, so if you're coming out to those, we'll see ya there!

Bummer.
